The Anatomy of a Monster

Screen shot 2009-10-15 at 2.16.12 PM

Manga artist Shigeru Mizuki is gearing up to rerelease what looks to be the ultimate illustrated guide to monster anatomy (at least we think it’s a rerelease–we don’t speak Japanese). It’s called Yōkai Daizukai and features some of the most imaginative ink autopsies of imaginary creatures we’ve ever seen (OK, pretty much the only ones we’ve ever seen). Pink Tentacle has a nice gallery of selections from the book with descriptions.
